Ingredients:
1 1/2 qt String beans
2 tbsp Bacon, smoked, diced
1 tbsp Butter
3 each Onion, large, sliced
4 each Med Tomato, chopped
1 tsp Salt
1 dash Red pepper
1 cup Water, hot
Instructions:
Cut string beans in small pieces. Fry the bacon until crisp and
brown, add the other ingredients and simmer for 1 hour. Add the hot
water and continue cooking 2 hours longer, adding more water if
necessary. Source: Pennsylvania Dutch Cook Book - Fine Old Recipes,
