Ingredients:
1/3 cup Shortening
3/4 cup Sugar
2 Eggs, Large
3/4 cup Flour, Unbleached
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1/4 tsp Baking Soda
1/4 tsp Nutmeg, Ground
1/4 tsp Ginger, Ground
1 cup Apples, Finely Chopped, *

MMMMMTOPPING

2 tbsp Sugar
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
Instructions:
* Core and Peel Apples. Chop as fine as possible.

++++++++++++++++++ Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a
time, and beat well. Stir together the flour, salt, baking powder,
baking soda and spices. Blend into the creamed mixture and mix well.
Stir in apples. Spread in a greased 13 X 9 X 2-inch pan. Mix sugar
and cinnamon together; blend well. Sprinkle on top of the dough. Bake
at 350 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool; cut into bars. Makes 36
bars.
